Lovely. I really want to import something like this back here. And they seem to be around the bottom of the price curve, yes? Or are these (malaise? Or is this post-malaise?) cruise ships starting to gain value again?

These are malaise. Prices have creeped up a bit from the bottom, but they can still be had cheaply.

These were made ‘till 1990 so I’d say they surpass malaise era but the design remained very much malaise throughout the production run. Not sure about the values but good examples have probably already risen in value at least in the states.

You can always take a road trip to the nordics. We have plenty of these things around.

The Malaise Era is the decade from 1973-1983, starting with the OAPEC oil embargo and continuing with tough new government fuel economy and emissions regulations that became effective in its wake, all of which coincided with an extended period of high unemployment and economic stagnation. It ended when horsepower numbers started gradually creeping back up in the early 80s, with turbos and fuel injection, and also with a major economic improvement at around the same time. Those downsized B-body wagons ran from 1977-1990, so launched during the era, but lasted quite a bit beyond it.

People want these? Growing up, each of my parents had one of their own. One baby blue and one white with wood paneling. They’re part of the reason I like wagons today, but I don’t think I’d ever own one.

I’m not sure I’d drive it to the grocery store at this point. The engine has a knock, the battery is dead, the valve covers leak, the brakes need work and a couple windows don’t roll down. Also a couple doors need to be opened from the inside. And it needs a carb rebuild. It’s s a computer controlled carb so you either need to send it to someone good or go with a different carb and intake.

It needs it all.

Rear floor behind the driver’s seat is gone (may be 15"x 15") . It was patched but not permanently. It needs to be done properly.
